Professional Development

The chapter assists members in preparing to sit for the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification examination by the Human Resource Certification Institute by facilitating member study groups. Groups are brought together each year in the Spring and Fall in a classroom setting. Limited to twenty-five participants each term to facilitate discussion, the groups follow prepared material and are taught by other certified professionals. Individuals seeking professional development support can register for these classes online at the chapter's website.

Student Chapter

IndySHRM believes that the Human Resource leaders of tomorrow can benefit from the leaders of today. In support of that belief, the chapter is involved with activities of Central Indiana area SHRM student chapters as well as providing an annual scholarship opportunity.

Job Services

IndySHRM recognizes and supports the notion that the management of one's professional career usually rests with that individual. For those members seeking a new position in Human Resources, looking to change positions, or, for those individuals involved in recruiting, the chapter has created and maintains the IndySHRM Jobs Database. This is a service that links our members with openings at all levels in the HR profession.

Directory

One of the primary reasons individuals join a professional organization is for the opportunity to network with other professionals and to find support for what they do. A great resource for this activity, and a member only benefit, is the online directory that IndySHRM maintains of each of its members. For their convenience, members may search for other member contacts by first or last name, company or organization, as well as by level of professional certification. To ensure that the directory is as current as possible, the directory also contains an online feature for members to update their contact own information.

Education

Members interested in developing a strong Central Indiana workforce may actively contribute to school-to-work transition initiatives. A variety of opportunities involving presentations to student groups and building relationships with other resources are available.
