Special 1/2 day HRACI Conference:
Designing Successful Compensation Programs
to Attract and Retain the Best and the Brightest!

You can
register online with Visa, MasterCard or American
Express
|
Who
Should Attend:
This seminar is designed for HR professionals, line managers
and supervisors, HR financial and payroll personnel, small
business owners, entrepreneurs, and members of job evaluation
and compensation committees can all benefit from this
seminar.
Approved
for Credit:
This program has been approved for 2 recertification credit
hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through
the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
Program
Overview:
In his energetic and participative two hour presentation,
John Rubino will provide the attendees with guidance on
which combinations of reward alternatives best fit their
organization and, as such, need to be included in their
total cash compensation mix. In addition, John will present
a pragmatic and comprehensive variable compensation framework,
as well as his ‘ten criteria for success’
for designing effective variable plans.
What
You Will Learn:
In today’s highly competitive business and labor
environment, all organizations are searching for the best
way to design their total cash compensation program (base
salary plus variable pay), in order to establish a direct
link between performance and rewards. To do this, it is
imperative that the program be aligned with corporate
culture, in sync with business strategies, and tailored
to operational realities. What makes this a challenge
is that there are many different types of compensation
programs that can be designed and implemented: merit
pay, skill-based pay, competency-based pay, individual
and group incentives, profit sharing, performance sharing,
etc.
All
in all, the participants will learn which pay strategies
are right for their organizations --- all for the purpose
of attracting and retaining the best and brightest!
Presenter

| Your
Input is Needed: The University of Indianapolis Center for
Aging & Community (CAC) |
Take a quick, but very important online
survey, please. The University Of Indianapolis Center
for Aging & Community (CAC) is conducting an important
survey of Indiana employers that examines the impact of
the changing workforce on the economic well being of our
state. This on-line survey is part of a research study
to review Indiana's preparedness for an aging workforce
and the skills shortages that could result in the next five
to 10 years.
We urge you to participate in the CAC Employer survey, since
widespread employer and industry participation is important
to provide an accurate representation of employer practices
and perceptions.
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Go to the survey website at
http://www.surveyshare.com/survey/take/?sid=33485.
Enter the password
EMPLOYER (must be all caps) and complete the survey.
The results of this study will be reported in the aggregate
and will not reflect individual responses. Please
be assured that you will in no way be identified and that
all responses will be held in the strictest confidence.
Only one response per organization is requested.
If you have questions, please contact Carol Blinzinger,
CAC Senior Fellow, at (317) 791-5931 or cblinzinger@uindy.edu.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!

| SHRM
and PBS Collaborate on new Series: CEO Exchange |
This
series has begun airing over PBS stations nationwide,
and we anticipate a strong positive reaction on the part
of our members, business leaders and others who view the
program. CEO Exchange will be seen in 21 of the top 25
U.S. markets. I encourage you to check your local TV listings
or contact your local PBS affiliate to find out when the
program airs in your area. Be sure to watch; I think you’ll
be pleased with what you see.
To
recap the 2006 season, the guest CEOs and venues were:
• Brian Roberts of Comcast and Terry McGraw of McGraw-Hill
(Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania);
• Bob Eckert of Mattel and Bob Kotick of Activision
(UCLA);
• Blake Nordstrom of Nordstrom, Inc., and Jim Donald
of Starbucks (University of Washington, Seattle);
• Bill Greehey of Valero Energy Corporation and
Gary Kelly of Southwest Airlines (University of Texas);
• Bud Selig of Major League Baseball and David Stern
of the National Basketball Association (Columbia University);
• Ed Zander of Motorola and Ed Liddy of Allstate
(Northwestern University);
• Bob Wright of NBC Universal and Doug Morris of
Universal Music Group (Fordham University);
• Ken Lewis of Bank of America and Tom Ryan of CVS
(Howard University);
• Gerard Kleisterlee of Royal Philips Electronics
and Fred Hassan of Schering-Plough Corporation (Rutgers
University); and
• Bill Marriott of Marriott International, Inc.
and Robert L. Johnson of The RLJ Companies, Inc. (University
of Maryland).
Our
plans for 2007 will include efforts to broaden the geographical
reach of the program to allow increased participation
by more chapters and state councils. We will also strive
to increase the amount of notification time before each
taping so that volunteer leaders, members and others can
attend tapings in local areas. And while we were very
pleased with the quality of the programming, we will work
with PBS/WTTW to increase the diversity of our guest CEOs.
Once
again, thank you for helping us make this SHRM signature
program a success. If you have any questions or suggestions
about the current program or the upcoming season, please
feel free to contact me at smeisinger@shrm.org, 703.535.6001,
or Jerry Brown, Director of Public Affairs, at SHRM, jbrown@shrm.org,
703.535.6047.
Best
